List-IT/Browser Compatibility
Minimum requirements
-
List-IT works best with Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher. Remember, if you're having difficulties, that Solid Earth provides suggested Browser Settings under "Getting Started with List-IT" in the Support Document Library.
Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0
-
Some forms print smaller than viewed due to Microsoft's "fit-to-print" option. You can improve this by increasing the View/Text Size from Medium to Larger or Largest
before printing. Solid Earth (and many other software developers) has repeatedly requesteda workaround or fix from Microsoft for this issue, to no avail.
Windows Vista
- List-IT is compatible with Vista, although your existing hardware may not be supported. Check system requirements from Microsoft against your hardware before installing Vista.
Apple Computer Users
You will need to use both Safari and Firefox browsers to get complete functionality. Solid Earth has promised to try to make all new List-It enhancements compatible with Firefox, but no guarantees. Report any problems to is@caar.com.
Firefox
List-IT tries to be compatible with Firefox. Solid Earth has promised to try to make all new List-It enhancements compatible with Firefox, but no guarantees. Report any problems to is@caar.com.
Note: When you go to caarmls.com in Firefox, you will receive the following Browser Warning:
The browser you are using is not specifically supported and may cause the MLS to function unpredictably. Click here to get a free copy of a supported browser or here to continue into the MLS anyway. Please be aware that if you delay the upgrade the MLS may not perform as designed. (link: http://www.microsoft.com/ie)
Click OK to continue into Firefox.
One thing you'll notice immediately is that fonts and screen images are rather small. Use Command+ (Ctrl+ on a PC) to increase the display size.
AOL Users
Be sure to minimize AOL and launch an Internet Explorer browser in order to access List-It. Otherwise, some features may not display and/or be accesssible.
Problems displaying images in Internet Explorer
If you experience problems viewing photos and other images, try this fix from Microsoft.
Removing saved username and password from Internet Explorer 6
If you no longer want IE 6 to "remember" your username and password, use this fix from WindowsITPro.
FAQs
Q:
When I hit the “Back” button, I get a message saying my session has timed out – even if it’s only been a couple of seconds! What’s going on?
A:
First: Are you running Norton Internet Security? If so, disable it, close your browser, and open a new browser session.
Second: Is everyone else in the office having the same problem, or is it just on your computer? If it’s the whole office, your router or hub may need to be reset (if this unit has no on/off switch, just unplug it, wait about 10 seconds, and plug it back in).
Q:
The “Download Cover Sheets” button for the Fax-in Service is broken. I keep clicking on it and nothing happens. Can you fix it – soon??
A:
Chances are, you have pop-ups blocked somewhere. This could be directly in your browser (Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, etc.), and/or in Google, Yahoo!, AOL, or a similar program.
If you’re using:
- Internet Explorer:
Click on Tools and make sure Pop-up Blocker is turned off
(or, click on Tools, then on Internet Options, then on Privacy; check the Block Pop-ups field, then add http://www.caarmls.com to the list under Settings) - Firefox:
Click on Tools, then on the Content tab, then uncheck the Pop-up blocker
(or, leave it checked, and click on the “Exceptions” tab and put http://www.caarmls.com in the list) - Safari:
Click on Safari and make sure Block Pop-ups is not checked
If that doesn’t work:
Here is a list of other common pop-up blockers, and how to disable them; follow the directions for any and all products you are running.
Q:
The system map couldn’t find my listing, so I moved the star on the map, and it’s still not showing up when I look at it again!
A:
Remember to click on the “Accept Map Location” button at the bottom of the screen once you’ve relocated the star symbol.
Q:
I scanned the floorplan for my client's house and added it to the list of pictures, but she says she can't view it. Where'd it go? I can see it, it's a PDF, it's right there!
A:
Only JPG and GIF images and links to virtual tours and web sites* are visible to the public in a listing's Media section. PDF files are not, so if you want a survey, floor plan, or other such item to be visible to non-CAAR members, you'll need to save it as a JPG or GIF. Remember that this will then take the place of one of your 15 photo spots.
* Remember, virtual tours and web sites cannot be branded. You should not have any contact information on web-based links.
